Biography

Avi Singh Majithia is a policy and development sector professional whose work focuses on social regulation, governance and urban planning in relation to informal livelihoods. She has a master’s degree in Regulatory Governance from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai, India). She was previously the Focal City Delhi Coordinator with Women in Informal Employment: Globalising and Organizing (WIEGO)

Avi’s work examines how informal labour markets navigate regulatory landscapes and policy advocacy to enhance workers’ rights. Her research so far has explored the intersections of policy implementation, urban planning, and governance structures, aiming to highlight the impact on marginalized communities. Looking at elements of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policy; she has worked on research into the circular economy and written on the Social Solidarity Economy.
