Vidyashilp University's B.Tech (Hons) program is a specialization in Data Science built on Computer Science and Engineering. It is a unique combination of interdisciplinary program work designed for those who seek to become 'Data Scientists'. The curriculum design and structure are guided both by recent work on the relation of Data Science to the other domains as well as the need for talent to meet the demands of the data-driven economy of the future. Graduates will be uniquely positioned to pursue a career in industry, academia, or research in this rapidly growing and all-pervasive field of Data Science.

In the past decade, the world has been transformed by the rapidly evolving field of Data Science. This new science, which is already revolutionizing business, science, and society, builds on an array of technological developments, including the widespread use of smartphones and rapid technological progress in computing and communication. Massive investments have gone into building out wireless infrastructure, data centers (the cloud) and into leveraging such facilities. The volume of data being collected automatically—and the processing of such data—has soared. New data-driven services have arisen, exploiting this new data-driven environment and convincing the public of the power and elegance of the data-driven paradigm.
Today, the term 'Data Scientist' typically describes a knowledge worker who uses the complex and massive data resources characteristic of this new era. However, Data Science is a broader concept involving principles for data collection, storage, integration, analysis, inference, communication, and ethics appropriate for this new data-driven era. Several industries and academic disciplines have perceived that a new field of Data Science is emerging out of several established fields, including Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Management, and Business Analytics. Data Scientists of the future will need to be educated in the full scope of Data Science principles.

A key goal of Vidyashilp University’s B Tech (Hons) - Computer Science and Engineering program is to inculcate in its students the ability to make good judgments, use tools responsibly and effectively, and ultimately make good decisions using data. This collection of abilities is defined as 'Data Acumen'.
Students from the School of Computational and Data Sciences will acquire knowledge from multiple disciplines like mathematics, statistics, and computational foundations and training in data acquisition, modeling, management and curation, data visualization, workflow, and reproducibility, communication and teamwork, domain-specific considerations, and ethical problem-solving.
The open choice based credit system gives the students the liberty to choose from a variety of related courses and electives offered as well as take up open electives online in case such is not offered within the University. This type of program flexibility to combine unique specializations will help students enhance their career traction.

Students can look at careers as a Data Analyst where they are responsible for analyzing large amounts of complex data, identify patterns, and derive conclusions carried forward to make prudent business decisions.
Business Intelligence (BI) developer
Students can also look at careers as a Business Intelligence (BI) developer and can contribute towards organizational growth by developing strategy deploying various BI tools and building custom models to facilitate understandability for the leaders of an organization.
Another career option is being a Data Architect. In this field, students will ensure maximum performance built by Data Scientists and developers by testing and demonstrating the results.
With a B Tech degree from Vidyashilp University, students can also look at a career as an Applications Architect who tracks the behavior of applications used within a business and how they interact with each other and with the end-users.
Career as an Infrastructure Architect is popular. In this field, students ensure the optimal performance of systems to contribute to the development of new technologies and system requirements.
Students can also look at a career as an Enterprise Architect and work closely with the stakeholders of a company including the Directors, VPs, Founders, and other top-level managers to build enterprise-level IT assets or Machine Learning Scientist and perform batch processing of accumulated Data to make it readable for data Scientists.
Machine Learning Scientist
Machine Learning Scientists understand the binary language behind the applications and models. They perform batch processing of accumulated data to make it readable for Data Scientists. As a Machine Learning Scientist, you are also responsible for researching new data approaches and algorithms, create data funnels, and deliver solutions.
The Summer Training/Internship and Capstone Project/Industry Internship are mandatory programs. Opportunities exist in very diverse organizations, be it eCommerce industry (Flipkart, Swiggy, Big Basket, Amazon); Social Media and Digital Marketing Organizations (LinkedIn, Facebook, Justdial, IndiaMART); Technology Organizations as diverse as Google, Paytm, TCS, Infosys; or Consulting Organizations like Accenture, Ernst and Young, KPMG. Students have the scope to gain hands on work experience at an undergrad level through such internships.
10+2 cleared (minimum 50%) from a recognised Board
English, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science or any technical vocational subject as optional subject
IB Diploma or IB Certificate with minimum average of 4 points for Physics, Mathematics and any optional subject* with overall minimum of 24 points
*Technical vocational subject must be related to Chemical/ Civil / Computer / Electrical / Mechanical streams
Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry / Biotechnology /Biology / Computer Science or any technical vocational subject as optional subject in the ‘A’ Level and English in the ‘AS’ /IGCSE/GCSE
A rank in JEE Main / State Engineering Entrance Exams is highly desirable
