Narendra Raghunath is an artist, educator, researcher, and designer whose work spans contemporary art, design pedagogy, cultural studies, and community-based practice. With over two decades of academic and professional experience, he has made substantial contributions to art and design education through interdisciplinary teaching, programme leadership, and curriculum development. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the Srishti Manipal Institute (MAHE University), focusing on the intersections of ecology, culture, cognition, and visual practice.

Courses Taught
Narendra has taught at the foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels across art, design, media, spatial design, and cultural theory. His teaching areas include:
- Contemporary art practice and theory, Experimental and media arts, Design drawing and observational studies, Design thinking and process design, History of art and architecture (European Renaissance; Indian architecture from 4th–18th century), Built space and design history, Community-based and travelling studio courses, Indian schools of philosophy
He has taught at the Srishti Manipal Institute and the National Institute of Interior Design (Sourashtra University), and has served as visiting faculty at the National Institute of Design (Ahmedabad), IDC–IIT Bombay, NID, NIFT, Woxsen University, CEPT, and other institutions.
Research Interests
His research focuses on:
- Ecology and situated art practice, Yakshi as an aesthetic and feminist cultural figure in South and Southeast Asia, Art and design education, cognition, and creative pedagogy, Cultural semiotics and popular iconography, Community-oriented art and land-based curatorial practices, Creative pedagogy for adolescents and foundation studies program
He is currently engaged in a land-based PhD research project in Wayanad.
Exhibitions: Narendra’s artworks have been exhibited widely in India and internationally, including at:
