Pallavi Roy is an Assistant Professor at the School of Legal Studies and Governance, and
an emerging legal scholar specializing in Intellectual Property Law and Corporate Law. She is
currently pursuing her Ph.D. at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences
(WBNUJS), Kolkata, one of India’s premier law institutes. Guided by the belief that law must
balance private rights with the collective good of society, she explores the tension between the
enforcement of trademark rights and the broader public interest in her doctoral work.
Pallavi holds an LL.M. in Corporate and Commercial Law from WBNUJS and a five-year integrated
B.A.LL.B.(Honours) degree from the University of Calcutta. Throughout her academic journey,
she consistently ranked among the top students in her class and received several accolades for
her academic achievements. She is a recipient of the CSS Scholarship for College and University
Students, and has qualified the UGC-NET (Law) exam for eligibility as an Assistant Professor in
her very first attempt.
Pallavi’s career reflects a rich blend of research and pedagogy. She has taught at reputed
universities in eastern India, including Adamas University and Sister Nivedita University, gaining
extensive experience teaching diverse areas of law such as Corporate Law, Intellectual Property
Law, Public International Law, Family Law, Labour Law, and Criminal Law. On the research front,
she focuses on producing meaningful work with real-world impact. Her work has appeared in
reputed academic venues, including peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
Prior to joining academia, Pallavi worked as a Legal Executive at Spencer’s Retail Limited,
Kolkata, a part of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka (RPSG) conglomerate, where she handled contracts and
monitored compliance. She tries to weave insights from this experience into her teaching to help
students connect legal theory with practice.
