Dr. Simily Sabu is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the School of Liberal Arts and Design Studies, Vidyashilp University, Bangalore. A cognitive scientist by training, her work is guided by a unifying theme of understanding how movement shapes the way we think, perceive, and interact with the environment. Dr. Sabu completed her PhD in Cognitive Science at the Central European University (CEU), Hungary/Austria, where she investigated how physical interaction between two people, specifically the variability and predictability of a partner's movements, influences motor learning and joint coordination. She went on to complete her postdoctoral research at the Institute for Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, where she studied how auditory change detection triggers involuntary motor responses. Earlier in her career, she explored the relationship between visual attention and motor response selection during her Master's in Cognitive Science at IIT Gandhinagar. Across this research trajectory, Dr. Sabu has employed various experimental psychology techniques including motion capture, psychophysics, and force analysis to examine the behavioural and motor underpinnings of various cognitive processes. Beyond her research, Dr. Sabu has actively engaged in civic and community initiatives during her time in Hungary. She has volunteered with civil society organisations and supported literacy outreach through community library programmes. She also served as an Education Mentor in the BRIDGE program at Milestone Institute, Budapest, mentoring students navigating financial and social barriers to higher education, and as an English tutor through the CEU/Ambedkar English E-tutoring program.
