Gavati is an artist/filmmaker based in Bangalore, India. With a background in contemporary art practices and experimental cinema, her cross-disciplinary art practice spans film, video, photography, performance, illustration and curation. Gavati uses diverse analog technologies focusing on experimental methods of generating sound, image, and text. She specializes in 16mm cinematography, printing, and hand processing.
Her film, video, and performance work has been exhibited in galleries and film festivals internationally and in India. Her thesis film O Seeker had its world premiere at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival. She currently serves as the Artistic Director at Experimenta – The International Festival Of Moving Image Art In India.
