Biography

Kavita Singh Kale has several years of experience in children's content creation, animation filmmaking and transmedia art practice. Her background as an artist and a designer enables her to draw a thin line between- design following functionality versus pure self-expression. This temperament has evolved her as a Transmedia Artist and her curiosity is to explore ideas from a holistic point of view of visual media, where there are no constraints or boundaries for the spectrum of techniques or the use of abundant technology. Known for her vibrant, playful and bold visual style, Kavita’s work encompasses installations, sculptures, book art, paintings and videos, showcasing a lively color palette and intriguing character designs.

She is the winner of Silver Conch(international section) at Mumbai International Film Festival, Awards for Excellence at Indian Documentary Producers' Association competition and several PromaxBDA awards. Kavita is the recipient of North Macedonia Ministry of Culture Grant for a literary project, UNESCO MGIEP graphic novel project fund and UnBox Labs Fellowship by British Council, the AHRC, Science & Innovation Network, supported by the REaCT Creative Economy Hub and NID Ahmedabad.

Kavita has showcased her art and design work at prestigious Annecy International Animated Film Festival, SIGGRAPH, Triennale di Milano, Uijeongbu Arts Center Seoul, National Museum of Art Romania, Hongik museum of Art Seoul amongst others. Her art has been auctioned at Artdeal Auction House. Her visual identity for the "New India Designscape" exhibition at Triennale di Milano was highlighted in Domus magazine.

As a children’s book author and illustrator, she has over fifty titles to her credit (featuring on the Parag Honour Lists; winning book awards such as the Darshana National Book Award and Room to Read award).
