Biography

Sivaranjini is an independent filmmaker and researcher. She is an alumna of the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, and a PhD researcher at the IDC School of Design, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.

Her debut feature film, Victoria (2024), was produced with the Kerala State Government's Women Empowerment Grant. The film received widespread international recognition, winning the FIPRESCI Award for Best Debut Director at the International Film Festival of Kerala, the Golden Goblet Award for Best Actress at the Shanghai International Film Festival, and the Excellence Award at the Seoul International Women's Film Festival, among several other honours and international festival selections. Sivaranjini was awarded the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation Research and Travel Grant (2021), which supported a short research fellowship at Film@Culture Lab, Newcastle University, UK.

Alongside her filmmaking practice, Sivaranjini's PhD research examines hybrid cinematic forms, realism and representation cinema. Her work combines critical inquiry with creative practice, contributing to emerging conversations in screen production research.
